Bengaluru has been recognized across the world as the knowledge base for IT and other industries, but our infrastructure lags significantly behind. Whether it is the city’s transport system and traffic flow, roads, highways and bridges or even the air – rail connectivity, there is a growing frustration with the slow pace of transformation. If you've been in Bengaluru for more than 10 years you’ll wonder what happened to the Garden City full of trees, parks and lakes that we used to know. Although Bengaluru was well-known for its mild temperatures, pollution is increasingly making the city hotter than it should be. Temperatures have risen by at least by 2 degrees. If this continues what will our children and grandchildren have to look forward to? Change requires a more participative governance model, where government works in tandem with private enterprise to respond rapidly to the needs of the city. Add to this an equal and consistent mechanism for feedback from the citizens and we will have created the recipe for success.
